CCDGA Challenge Cup 2024

The 2024 CCDGA Challenge Cup was played at Gosford Golf Club on Sunday 9^th June with the Shelly Beach team of Rob Dent, Fraser Blackwell, Ray Sharratt, Jan Kearsley, Jenny Bennett and Louisa Rigby winning this year’s event.

The Challenge Cup is a team event played as an aggregate stableford of all 6 players against all CCDGA clubs and SBGC’s aggregate score of 178 was the winning team score on the day by 4 shots from runners up Gosford.

Also, congratulations to Jenny Bennett who won the women’s div 2 individual stableford with 34 points.

In heavy conditions, the course was played with bunkers out of play and carts not permitted on course so it was a challenging day for all the players.

The qualifying for this year’s event was rained out on Saturday 11^th May and as we had been unable to complete an individual stableford over 18 holes since that date, the qualifying date was applied to Saturday 27^th April. The club thanks the 6 players who all agreed to represent the club at short notice and we’re very proud of their efforts to win the Challenge Cup which is the club’s first win since 2008.
