MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER – JANUARY 2019

Dear Members,

I would like to wish you all the very best for 2019. How fast did this last year pass! It has been another interesting year for our wonderful club and there is more work to be done as we head into 2019.

Our live music has been well supported with the tribute bands being a hit amongst our music fans. We will continue to work on a calendar of music to keep you entertained. The outdoor music will be more frequent in the summer of 2019/ 2020 and we have been discussing the installation of a permanent outdoor stage for quite some time to facilitate this activity. A big thankyou to Stephanie Vidler our Functions and Events Manager for her assistance with the booking and selection of the music.

The support for our Food offering continues to grow and the new menu items will come into play at the end of January. Congratulations to Daniel Magill and his team as they have built up a loyal following in the Aqua Restaurant which has been an integral part of the Club’s return to form over the last 12 months.

It has been very pleasing to see the results of Andrew Banning and his Greenkeeping team’s work over the winter months with improvements to many areas of the course. There has been overwhelmingly positive feedback from the Golfing members with the condition of the course and the new surrounds mower has had a very positive impact on the course presentation. We are reviewing items with the Greens Committee and Board for Winter projects again this year for further course improvements.

It has been another busy year for the Golf Shop team lead by our Director of Golf Jason Hart. There are many events planned on the golfing calendar for 2019, and with a significant change in the rules of golf commencing the 1st of January I am sure our Golf Professionals and Club Captain will be answering a number of queries while we all become familiar with the changes. In line with these changes there will be some further clearing of low-lying garden areas to assist with improving the speed of play and making it easier for the golf course staff to maintain the course. A key goal for 2019 is increasing member participation in golfing events.

With the increase in people visiting the Club and with the larger numbers attending our music promotions our Senior Duty Manager Adam Zacka has been very busy. In recent months we have installed new beer lines, a new beer pump, and new taps in the bars to improve the consistency and quality of our beer and the new outdoor tables outside the bottom bar have been well received. A second till was installed in the upstairs bar to assist in the peak periods and we have engaged an architect to assist with the planning of an outdoor deck area and the renovation to the bottom bar and toilet area. When plans have been finalised, we will share these with the Membership with updates on timing.

I would also like to welcome our new President Malcolm Sheldon and Director Susan Eastway who along with our other Board Members are very keen to see the Club continue to prosper and implement plans which have been discussed over the last 12 months. With the improvement to the Club’s financials this will assist the Board and Management in implementing the changes in the not too distant future.
