LADIES REPORT – MAY 2019

The April Ladies golfing calendar always brings on two major events. The start of our pennants campaign and the Ladies Charity Day.

Ladies Pennants is now in full swing. April saw 5 rounds of pennants played with both Wattle and Banksia coming home with some wins but also some losses as well. With 3 rounds left to play Shelly Beach is still in the mix. Best of luck to both captains, Jo Spears and Jude Tarran and all our ladies.

The Oncology department at Gosford hospital has been the recipient of the ladies charity day for 9 years now. The theme as always being pink but this year there was a twist, with cakes being brought into the mix. We were taken back in time to the ever popular “Cake Stall” and the ladies should be congratulated on their fabulous baking skills. To our amazement the cake stall created so much interest in the club house that dinning guests requested to purchase the cakes and donate to the charity. Keeping to this theme we held a “Bake Off” between our resident Chef Daniel Magill and our GM Scott Armstrong. Both Scott and Daniel adorned with pink feathers and cap and a table each of skillfully decorated cupcakes took on each other in an attempt to raise the most money. Between them they raised close to $500. Gentlemen, thank you both.

We then moved on to the cake auction. The most delicious looking sponge delight decorated with passionfruit icing, created by our Sally. Our resident auctioneer Susan Eastway held the floor as a bidding war began between Leoni Johns and Sue Wilkcockson. Jan Richens, Manager of Fundraising and Donations for the Central Coast, stood in amazement as the hammer finally came down on Sue Wilcocksons bid of $250 for the cake.

The Charity day also had a huge raffle. We had some incredibly generous donations and would like to take this opportunity to thank: Kooindah Golf Club, The Shelly Beach Moaners, Fruit for All Tumbi Umbi, Tee Time Apparel, The Lakes Hotel Bottle Mart.
Through the generosity of so many we raised $3000 this year bringing the grand total over the 9 years to $26,000!!!!

On behalf of all the ladies…….Jule’s we send you all our love and best wishes.
