Well, what an eventful Club Championships we had for both the Ladies and Men. Extreme rain saw the second round of the Ladies Club Championships cancelled and the same for the men. Your match committee went into overdrive to adjust conditions of play to cater for the terrible conditions yet still maintain a valid event. In the end, the men’s event was reduced to 54 holes. I thank the greater membership for the support given to myself and the match committee for the difficult decisions made. The results are as follows.

Well done to all our Champions for the year.

Jordie Garner has travelled to compete against the Professionals in the Queensland Open. After making the cut, Jordie finished 72 holes at +8 in a Tie for 58th spot. He now competes against the Professionals again in the NSW Open this week at Twin Creeks Golf club. Good luck Jordie!

Kim Burke continues her stellar year with winning the Australian Senior Order of Merit for the second year running. Kim also went undefeated whilst representing Australia in the Trans Tasman Cup played at The Grange Golf Club in Adelaide. Sensational effort!

Our Mens Top Gun event is coming up with the final being played on the 18th November. Qualifying ends on the 8th November. You may have noticed I have been a bit quiet on here in relation to the new rules from 1 January 2019. The reason being, is that every time I outline a new rule, some folk think it is in play and implement the changes now! There will be more information in December closer to the date.

At time of writing, we are awaiting our AGM and election of new President as our current President Allan Arkins is resigning. Allan has served the club as board member and President for over 20 years and this equates to thousands of unpaid hours of service. The last few years have been very difficult to say the least with unprecedented events taking place which landed squarely in the Presidents court. He has been able to overcome those challenges with professionalism and dignity. Allan has already volunteered to continue his work pursuing grants which has, and will greatly assist our club. He has been a mentor and leader for all board members and I wish him well in his retirement from the board.
